SUMMARY:The Artimus Pyle Band Honoring The Music of Lynyrd Skynyrd
DESCRIPTION:Long considered the “wild man” of Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Artimus Pyle’s powerful and distinctive double bass drumming helped define the legendary Skynyrd sound. The years Artimus played with Skynyrd were the years that solidified the legend behind the band. Quickly developing into one of the nation’s top touring draws with a grueling schedule of 300 shows a year\, the constant work and touring paid off. By 1977\, Skynyrd’s songs had become radio staples\, where they still remain today.\nAPB delivers hit after hit after hit\, night after night after night. From Freebird to Sweet Home Alabama\, APB gives fans the best of Skynyrd with the men who made it!

SUMMARY:A Visit From Scarface
DESCRIPTION:A hilarious comedy by V. Cate and Duke Ernsberger Directed by Barry Corlew and Bob Petrucelli The year is 1930 and Ben Hecht\, the famous Hollywood writer\, has just finished his screenplay for a movie produced by Howard Hughes called SCARFACE\, loosely based on the real life story of Al Capone. The movie is going to be a blockbuster and Hecht considers the script to be the best he’s ever written. It all looks like a Hollywood ending….until the script disappears….only to turn up in the hands of two of Capone’s men who have been sent by Al to have a little “talk” with Ben. The jokes fly fast and thick in this hilarious comedy as Hecht tries to duck gangsters on one hand and the Hollywood censors on the other.

SUMMARY:Freedom Walk to support Created Gainesville's North Florida Survivor Shelter at Sholom Park
DESCRIPTION:In honor of Human Trafficking Awareness Month\, MCA in partnership with Grace Episcopal Church and Highlands Baptist Church will be hosting a special art installation during the January First Friday Art Walk. On the evening of January 3\, we will fill cracks between the bricks of the Downtown Square with bright red sand to create a visual reminder of the millions of people around the world who have fallen through the cracks of our society and become trapped and hidden in slavery. Project developer\, experimental New York City-based artist Molly Gochman has said about the project\, “I realized that my art could be a tool to help raise awareness of this horrible crime (human trafficking) and the vulnerabilities that lead to exploitation. I’ve always thought that sidewalks cracks were beautiful — they hold a tension between nature and society. Metaphorically here\, they symbolize people who are overlooked by society — those who fall through the cracks and are often subject to exploitation.” \nThe Red Sand Project is a participatory artwork created by Molly Gochman that uses sidewalk interventions and earthwork installations to create opportunities for people to question\, connect and take action against vulnerabilities that can lead to human trafficking and exploitation. The International Labour Organization estimates that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally; 81% of them are trapped in forced labor\, 25% of them are children\, and 75% are women and girls. The grains represent the men\, women\, and children enslaved today around the world – and right here in Ocala. #RedSandProject \nTO REPORT SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING:\nCall: 888-373-7888 / Text: 233733 \nFor more information about this event\, please contact MCA at 352-369-1500. \nSchedule of events for the month of January:\n*Jan 3 (6-8pm) – Red Sand Project Participatory Art Installation at Ocala Downtown Square\n*Jan 7 (6pm) – Candlelight Vigil for the end of Human Trafficking at Ocala City Hall Steps\n*Jan 25 (10am) – Freedom Walk to support Created Gainesville’s\nNorth Florida Survivor Shelter at Sholom Park\n*Jan 28 (11:30am) – Lunch & Learn more about Human Trafficking at Brick City Center for the Arts\n*Jan 30 (1pm) – Human Trafficking Awareness in Marion County at Saint Leo University\, Ocala Education Center \nTO REPORT SUSPECTED HUMAN TRAFFICKING:\nCall: 888-373-7888 / Text: 233733 \nFor more information about this event\, please contact MCA at 352-369-1500.

SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn more about Human Trafficking at Brick City Center for the Arts

SUMMARY:International Film Series “A Bag of Marbles”(NR)
DESCRIPTION:The CF International Film Series educates and inspires through films that are culturally\, historically and artistically important. We hope you will join us as we explore and enjoy our world though great cinema. \nBased on a true story\, this film tells the story of the Nazi occupation through the eyes of two young Jewish boys struggling to survive on their own. In French and German with English subtitles. \nAll films will be shown Tuesdays at 2 p.m. at the Appleton Museum of Art\, 4333 E. Silver Springs Blvd.\,Ocala\, and at 7 p.m. at the College of Central Florida\, 3001 S.W. College Road\, Building 8\, Room 110. Films at the Ocala Campus are free and open to the public.
