SUMMARY:Hotel California
DESCRIPTION:When The Eagles stopped to catch their breath a few decades ago\, having sold over 100 million records\, collected six Grammy’s\, and enjoyed six #1 albums\, Hotel California began a pioneering journey through their history-making music that has taken them around the globe and thrilled hundreds of thousands of Eagles fans. It’s been a journey they could never have imagined back in 1986\, but their dedication\, unique musical gifts\, and an obsessive commitment to doing this legendary music true justice in performance\, set them apart from the many Eagles bands that came after them. Hotel California toured relentlessly from the 80’s straight through to today\, setting the standard for world-class tribute productions as they went\, and sharing stages with the likes of The Doobie Bros.\, Lynyrd Skynyrd\, Gretchen Wilson\, REO Speedwagon\, and many more. From Japan to Dubai\, Toronto to Texas\, Hotel California has boldly taken the tribute band where none had gone before them\, and changed an industry’s collective mind about how good a “tribute” band could really be. \nToday Hotel California continues to tour internationally\, and their stage show has evolved into one of the most impressive and popular productions on the North American soft-seat and festival circuits. Featuring original members within their strongest lineup to date\, the band is enjoying what they do today more than ever – and it sure sounds like it! It won’t take you long to hear why legions of Eagles fans come back to see them time after time\, and the top venues & festivals have them back again and again. The easy-going warmth that comes from the band onstage exemplifies the Southern California sound of the 1970’s. The experience of a Hotel California show isn’t just about the band – it’s about celebrating the music and the memories\, and the band gets the audiences involved and on their feet! Close your eyes and you’re right back there… \nFor any band to continually exceed such high expectations this deep into their career\, and remain at the top of their field for as long as Hotel California have\, is a truly remarkable accomplishment. That’s why when top talent buyers need the proven\, absolute highest quality Eagles show in the world\, they book the original Hotel California year after year. – Steve Birnstihl\, CTA Tributes\nThe members of Hotel California have also performed in many other touring bands\, such as The Guess Who\, April Wine\, Glass Tiger\, Coney Hatch\, and Foot In Cold Water.

His music layers Mayan spirituality\, social activism\, and folk wisdom over a propulsive sound combining reggae\, cumbia\, hip hop\, and pre-Columbian instruments. His debut album\, Guatemaya\, (due out September\, 2018 on Stonetree Records) is a call for social justice for his country’s indigenous majority. \nDoctor Nativo (real name: Juan Martinez) grew up in Quetzaltenango\, Guatemaya. In 1990\, during the bloody\, cold-war era Guatemalan civil war\, Nativo’s father\, Arturo Martinez was assassinated along with five of his friends. Nativo’s childhood\, which began so happily came crashing down. One of his earliest memories is working as a “DJ” when he was as young as five at his dad’s restaurant\, “El Copetín” turned tragic. \n“At ‘El Copetín’\, there was always music playing\, Salsa\, Reggae\, Boleros\, Cumbia\,” Nativo explains. “Music was the only escape from the horrors of the civil war that consumed the country for over three decades. My dad was very charismatic and compassionate; he was always ready to help people. He had friends among the Guatemalan guerillas and would often let them use the restaurant for their meetings\, sometimes they would even come to the house for food and water because we always had supplies from the restaurant.” \nBy the age of fifteen\, Nativo had left school and had taken up the life of a traveling musician. After busking his way through Europe\, India\, and Latin America\, life brought him to Cuba (the country of his father’s birth)\,to study at the Escuela Nacional de Arte in Havana. Eventually he settled in Barcelona\, where he played music in the street\, every day\, for years\, and found his voice through direct contact with the people. \nIn 2010\, Nativo returned to Guatemaya\, where he attended his first Mayan ceremony and discovered his nahual (Mayan animal spirit)\, beginning an intense spiritual journey. Two years later\, Nativo took a 16-hour ride through mountains and jungle to meet with producer and Stonetree Records founder\, Ivan Duran\, at his studio in neighboring Belize. After playing song after song for hours\, the recording process began then and there. \nThe result is a whole new chapter in the music of Central America and Stonetree Records. Guatemaya marks the first direct release to the U.S. market from the legendary\, independent label that brought Andy Palacio\, Aurelio Martinez and other Garifuna greats to the world. For full bio and information\, visit www.doctornativo.com \nNINO CASTANEDA\nLocal opening artist Nino Castaneda is a latin jazz guitarist who loves performing locally in Ocala. \nSHOW US HOW #MUSICMOVES YOU! \nDon’t forget to show us how #musicmoves you by dancing and you may receive a 2019 Levitt AMP Ocala t-shirt. SUMMARY:The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?
DESCRIPTION:Brace yourself\, ladies. This is how men think. An international comedic phenomenon! Described by The New York Times as “Hilarious… a one-man tour de force!” it is hands down one of the funniest solo shows you will ever see. On a quest to answer the age-old question\, “What do women want?” Robert Dubac seamlessly transforms himself into five hysterical boneheads who each offer sidesplitting advice on how to straddle the gender gap – all while drinking a beer. Men and women from eighteen to eighty laugh non-stop as THE MALE INTELLECT nudges the battle of the sexes towards a humorous détente with everyone lovingly elbowing each other in the end with laughter and recognition. Hailed by critics and audiences alike: “THE MALE INTELLECT: AN OXYMORON? is a rare thing; a clever combination of theater and stand-up comedy that is laugh-out-loud funny\, provocative and insightful all at once. There are two types of people who should rush and see it – men and women!” – The Providence Journal

SUMMARY:Cracker Village Tour-Silver River Museum
DESCRIPTION:Come and discover what life was like at the turn of the century in the Florida “piney woods.” The cracker homestead is a replica of a 19th century pioneer settlement. This collection of buildings represents a small “Cracker” settlement dating to the 1890s. A typical homestead of the time would have included a cabin and outbuildings such as a barn\, pantry\, smokehouse\, and outhouse. Schoolhouses\, churches\, and blacksmith shops would have been found in settlements that homesteaders visited to attend social gatherings and barter for supplies. During the tour\, these buildings will be open for viewing and on most tours the blacksmith’s forge will be fired up. Meet at the Cracker Village across from the Silver River museum. \nAdditional Information: \nEnter the park through the camping & museum entrance\, 1425 NE 58th Avenue\, (also known as State Road 35 or Baseline Rd.) to access the Silver River Museum. For information on the tour\, please call 352-236-7148.
