SUMMARY:Live On Stage: The musical "First Date"
DESCRIPTION:Awkward nerd Aaron (James Ray Taylor III) has never been on a blind date before. Free-spirited bohemian Casey (Megan Wager) has been on way too many. What could go wrong? Well\, just about everything\, as these complete opposites soon discover. But when they meet for dinner\, sparks fly. \nThe evening also features imaginary guest appearances by exes\, friends\, and family (Hannah Brannon\, Deion Bruce Howard\, Vanessa Quiñones\, Patrick J. Stanley\, Baylor Willis)\, who pop into Aaron and Casey’s heads to offer advice served up with plenty of sass. Through song and dance\, these mental narrators provide hilarious and heartfelt commentary on how the date’s going. \nSet in modern-day NYC\, this 2013 Broadway musical is an outrageously funny\, rapid-fire romantic comedy about finding love in surprising places. If you’ve been on a date\, you can relate! Please be aware: This show contains strong profanity and sexual innuendo. \n“First Date” is directed by Chris Jorie. Music director is Shane Bass. Stage manager is Dakota Brown. Set design is by Dave Berardi. Costume design is by Eryn Brooks Brewer. Lighting design is by Robert P. Robins. Sound design is by Steven Whipple. \nThere will be 11 public performances from January 10-20\, 2019. The lobby opens one hour before each performance\, at 7:00 p.m. before evening shows and at 1:00 p.m. before matinees. Beer and wine are available for purchase at the concessions stand. \nReserve your tickets for opening night and join us on Thursday\, January 10 at 7:00 p.m. for a reception an hour before the premiere performance. Delicious refreshments are provided\, and beer and wine are available for purchase. Come celebrate the excitement of opening night! \nTickets are $27 for adults\, $25 for subscribers to the Ocala Civic Theatre Signature Series\, and $13 for full-time students (school ID required for college students). Group rates are available as well. Call (352) 236-2274 or go to www.ocalacivictheatre.com. \nENTER OUR “FIRST DATE” CONTEST AND WIN A DATE NIGHT TO SEE THE SHOW!\nGot a great story of an unforgettable first date of your own? Tell us about it! You could win tickets to the show\, plus dinner and some other special perks to give you another memorable night out. Whether your first date was terrific or terrible\, we want to hear about it. SUMMARY:Classic Albums Live Fleetwood Mac Rumours
DESCRIPTION:Classic Albums Live at The Villages Florida at The Savannah Center takes classic albums and performs them live\, on stage—note for note\, cut for cut—using the world’s greatest musicians. From Craig Martin\, founder of Classic Albums Live: “The very first track of [Rumours] lets you know that heartache awaits. It’s not easy to fall apart\, then sing about it\, then have 25 million people buy it. It was therapy and it paid great. The vocals are tricky; there’s nuance and layering and thunder and the guitars are orchestral. Plus\, the vibe of the album—the feel—that’s hard to recreate. What’s cool about this record is that everyone knows all the words\, even the ushers at the shows\, so when CAL hits the stage and plays this masterpiece it is joyous.”

SUMMARY:Orlando Dressage
DESCRIPTION:Events from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at our Covered Arena. FREE ADMISSION\, spectators are welcome! \nPlease visit http://www.orlandodressage.com/ for more information. \nDressage is a competitive equestrian sport\, defined by the International Equestrian Federation as “the highest expression of horse training“\, where “horse and rider are expected to perform from memory a series of predetermined movements.” Competitions are held at all levels from amateur to the World Equestrian Games. Its fundamental purpose is to develop\, through standardized progressive training methods\, a horse’s natural athletic ability and willingness to perform\, thereby maximizing its potential as a riding horse. In modern dressage competition\, successful training at the various levels is demonstrated through the performance of “tests”\, prescribed series of movements ridden within a standard arena. Dressage competitions consist of a series of individual tests with an increasing level of difficulty.

SUMMARY:National Geographic Live: Birds of Paradise Revealed
DESCRIPTION:Tim Laman has earned a reputation for capturing images of nearly impossible subjects—from animals that glide through rainforest canopies to some of the most rare and endangered birds in the world. His pioneering research in Borneo led to a Ph.D. from Harvard\, and his photography has been featured in eighteen National Geographic stories. \nWorking with Cornell University ornithologist Ed Scholes\, who has been conducting field research on the birds of paradise for over ten years\, Laman’s latest work focuses on these unique and majestic species\, found deep in the New Guinea wilderness. Evolved to attract mates with their extraordinarily colorful feathers\, which they display in dances executed with ballerina-like grace\, the birds paradise are a living laboratory of natural selection. \nIn this stunning presentation tied to their book Birds of Paradise Revealed\, these intrepid scientists share remarkable photographs and video to reveal—for the first time—all 39 species\, including their colorful plumage\, secret lives\, bizarre displays\, and dazzling courtship antics. Join Laman and Scholes as they recount their wild and hairy adventures in the New Guinea rainforest in search of some of nature’s most extraordinary wonders. And explore the fascinating scientific questions around how such extreme creatures and behaviors could have evolved.
