DESCRIPTION:Trying to explain the atmosphere that you will find within the show ring of an elite all breed draft horse hitch show is hard to put into words\, but here it goes… \nJust imagine the possibility of 168 one ton horses in a ring at the same time\, along with 21 world class hitch wagons\, being maneuvered by some of the best drivers in the industry! You can imagine the organized chaos that gets executed perfectly\, a marvelous undertaking to see. The pure power and excitement of this equine venture is one of the most crowd-pleasing horse events on the planet. There will be up to 32 of these one-ton draft horses working together at a full trot within the show ring altogether. Did we mention that the whole competition is done to hand-picked music for each class? \nTo describe the intensity of auditory sensation and energy this amount of horsepower can produce is chilling. The thunderous sound of 672 pounding draft horse hooves we can only describe as pure horsepower. These 6 and 8 horse hitches demand your attention\, not only in their power but with their majestic elegance. \nTo describe the intensity of auditory sensation and energy this amount of horsepower can produce is chilling. SUMMARY:National Geographic Live: Birds of Paradise Revealed
DESCRIPTION:Tim Laman has earned a reputation for capturing images of nearly impossible subjects—from animals that glide through rainforest canopies to some of the most rare and endangered birds in the world. His pioneering research in Borneo led to a Ph.D. from Harvard\, and his photography has been featured in eighteen National Geographic stories. \nWorking with Cornell University ornithologist Ed Scholes\, who has been conducting field research on the birds of paradise for over ten years\, Laman’s latest work focuses on these unique and majestic species\, found deep in the New Guinea wilderness. Evolved to attract mates with their extraordinarily colorful feathers\, which they display in dances executed with ballerina-like grace\, the birds paradise are a living laboratory of natural selection. \nIn this stunning presentation tied to their book Birds of Paradise Revealed\, these intrepid scientists share remarkable photographs and video to reveal—for the first time—all 39 species\, including their colorful plumage\, secret lives\, bizarre displays\, and dazzling courtship antics. Join Laman and Scholes as they recount their wild and hairy adventures in the New Guinea rainforest in search of some of nature’s most extraordinary wonders. And explore the fascinating scientific questions around how such extreme creatures and behaviors could have evolved.
