SUMMARY:Branford Marsalis
DESCRIPTION:Branford Marsalis has stayed the course. From his early acclaim as a saxophonist bringing new energy and new audiences to jazz\, he has refined and expanded his talents and his horizons as a musician\, composer\, bandleader\, and educator – a 21st Century mainstay of artistic excellence. \nKnown for the telepathic communication among its uncommonly consistent personnel\, its deep book of original music replete with expressive melodies and provocative forms\, and an unrivaled spirit in both live and recorded performances\, the Branford Marsalis Quartet has long been recognized as the standard to which other ensembles of its kind must be measured.

SUMMARY:Monday Mini Workshop in Oils with Milly Sheffer
DESCRIPTION:Opportunity for Artists\nMonday Morning Mini-Workshops\nMilly Sheffer will hold a series of Monday morning mini-workshops on painting in oils. The workshops will take place at Brick City Center for the Arts\, Ocala\, Florida and are open to artists of all levels. There’s no need to sign up for the whole series. Simply come when you wish. The class will be from 9:00 to noon but arrive a little early to set up. Pay at the door\, $25/session.\nArtists need to bring their own supplies and a portable easel. Milly will start the workshop with a demonstration followed by the artist’s painting and provided with individual instruction. She will address subjects including: painting with a palette knife\, loosening up with large brushes\, creating color vibrations\, working ala prima to complete a canvas in a couple hours\, using color theory to create harmony\, doing quick sketches with a brush\, following and/or breaking the “rules” of composition\, putting together all you know to create your own unique style\, and whatever else the attendees would like to learn. \nMilly Sheffer is an experienced teacher of drawing and painting\, has exhibited widely and won numerous awards both regionally and nationally for her watercolors and oil paintings. She prefers to work quickly and loosely\, allowing the process to show in the finished piece. \nQuestions? Email mmsheffer@yahoo.com. Go to millysheffer.com to see examples of Plein air\, still life\, portraiture\, and figural painting.

SUMMARY:Spring Art Park Series - Little Tybee & Wallysburg
DESCRIPTION:The City of Ocala presents The Spring Art Park Series featuring live musical performances by Little Tybee with opening performance by Wallysburg on Friday\, January 17th\, from 6 – 9 p.m. Enjoy an evening\, outdoor concert in beautiful Tuscawilla Art Park\, located at 213 NE 5th Street\, in downtown Ocala. Admission is $5. \nABOUT LITTLE TYBEE\nEight years into being a band and Little Tybee has only scratched the surface in their path of constant creation\, experimentation and treading musical waters in-between genre and genus. They blend together psych-folk\, prog-rock\, jazz\, Motown\, and general aural wizardry. However\, the more you try to thread together a clear and concise narrative\, the more blurry it gets – so it’s just best to sit back and enjoy it. To describe Little Tybee is to describe an atmosphere – something that’s more felt than heard. Their dense tapestry of sound surrounds and hits all the senses. \nADDITIONAL EVENT INFORMATION\nDoors open at 5 p.m. and performance will begin approximately 6 p.m. This outdoor venue provides an open area for seating\, chairs and/or blankets are recommended. Food and drinks will be available on-site\, as well as several curated indie craft vendors. Coolers are not permitted. \nPARKING\nParking is available at the Tuscawilla Art Park\, or adjacent Ocala Union Station\, as well as Tuscawilla Park parking lots and street parking. \nFor questions and information\, please visit www.ocalafl.org/performingarts or contact Ocala Cultural Arts at artinfo@ocalafl.org or 352-629-8447. \nFollow us on Facebook and Instagram @ocalaculturalarts

SUMMARY:3 Redneck Tenors
DESCRIPTION:The 3 Redneck Tenors are a new breed in the “tenor genre” – their musical comedy featuring classically trained veteran artists is like Duck Dynasty goes to Carnegie Hall – down home laughs with big city music! It has been said that if Larry the Cable Guy\, Il Divo\, and Mrs. Doubtfire had a baby\, that child would be one of The 3 Redneck Tenors. Written by opera-veteran Matthew Lord with music arranged by award-winning composer Craig Bohmler\, and starring Mr. Lord\, Blake Davidson\, and Jonathan Fruge\, The 3 Redneck Tenors were top finalists on “America’s Got Talent” and have been thrilling audiences since 2006.

SUMMARY:An Evening with Leo Kottke
DESCRIPTION:The Grammy-nominated acoustic guitarist will be returning to the Reilly for an evening of great music! Known for his fingerpicking style that draws on blues\, jazz\, and folk music\, and for syncopated\, polyphonic melodies; Kottke is regarded widely as a master of his instrument. Kottke’s 1971 major-label debut\, “Mudlark\,” positioned him somewhat uneasily in the singer/songwriter vein\, despite his own wishes to remain an instrumental performer. Kottke flourished during his tenure on Capitol\, as records like 1972’s “Greenhouse” and 1973’s live “My Feet Are Smiling” and “Ice Water” found him branching out with guest musicians and honoring his technique.
