This September\, let’s step out of the hustle and bustle and explore the simple PLEASURES that inspire us all. As artists\, you draw inspiration from profound beauty and simplicity. From the simplicity of sparse lines\, intense color\, to varying perspectives. It’s the simple elegance of the natural world that defines a simple pleasure. Artists are to create work inspired by the theme PLEASURES. \nDeadline to submit is August 15\, 2019. \nEntry fee is $25 for members and $40 for non-members (price includes membership to MCA). Each artist may submit two (2) pieces for exhibition and judging. All entries are to be submitted no later than August 15 and must be sent via email to Ashley.Justiniano@McaOcala.com. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a viewing of “Lost Springs\,” which follows the inimitable artist Margaret Ross Tolbert as she experiences the magic and beauty of a series of freshwater Florida springs forgotten by the state and left to decay behind a nearly 50-year-old failure of big government spending. Every three or more years\, the water behind the Kirkpatrick Dam in north-central Florida is lowered\, exposing an environment that is still raw with both tragedy and hope. The film explores themes of loss\, wonder and experience in nature as Tolbert joins local and regional experts on a boat trip up the long-fabled Ocklawaha River to witness this newly-revealed\, transient landscape and to find the lost springs of the Ocklawaha. \nFree for Appleton members; included with admission fee for nonmembers. A brief introduction will be made by the artist.
