The Florida Academic Lichen and Fungi Enthusiast League will lead a 42 acre hike where we will discover local lichen, fungi and perhaps something edible! Please be prepared; wear appropriate hiking clothing, bring sunscreen and bug repellent, and water. Free for All ages. Learn to identify different types of mushrooms during the Wild Mushroom Hike at Fort King National Historic Landmark on Aug. 31. Remember to wear appropriate clothing. The Fort King National Historic Landmark is honored to have Pulitzer Prize winning author Jack Davis come speak to us. His book, The Gulf: The Making of an American Sea, won the Pulitzer Prize in 2018 for the important environmental history of the Earth's 10th largest body of water. Davis will speak about his book and history of the Gulf of Mexico just to the west of us. This lecture is free and open to the public.
