Monday Morning Workshop with Kay Deuben

Monday Morning Mini Workshops in pastels with renowned artist, Kay Deuben. Monday, August 19 AND Monday, August 26 from 9am to noon. The workshops will take place at Brick City Center for the Arts, Ocala, Florida and are open to artists of all levels.

Each session will include a still life set up, followed by a demo of a different pastel method by Kay Deuben. Participants may work from a photo of their own if they wish. Under painting, surface prep, to blend or not to blend are some subjects that will be covered.

There’s no need to sign up for the whole series. Simply come when you wish. Class will be from 9:00 to noon, but arrive a little early to set up. Advance registration not required. Pay at the door, $25 per session. Beginners welcome. Some supplies will be available for beginners but all should bring a set of pastels, masking tape and paper as well as a support such as gator board. Please provide your own easel and table cover.

About the Artist: Kay Deuben recently coordinated the Equine Benefit Show for Mill Creek Farm at Mossman Hall in Melrose where she has taught pastel workshops as well as in St. Augustine at the Hubley Gallery. Studying recently in workshops by Dawn Emerson, Stan Sperlak, Nancy King Mertz, Lyn Asselta, Richard Lundgren, Lorenzo Chavez and Desmond O”Hagan, Kay will include techniques learned from each during the sessions.
Kay earned a degree from University of Kansas and has studied art at John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis as well as the listed workshops. She recently attended the International Association of Pastel Societies convention in Albuquerque, NM. She is a member of First Coast Pastel Society, Pastel Society of Central Florida and Pastel Society of North Carolina. Her commissioned work is in private collections through out the US.
