A Convenient, Small-Town Pharmacy

In Ocala, the name Costa carries a lot of history. For more than 30 years, the late John Costa Sr., his wife, Johanna, and their son, John Jr., have been fixtures in the community. For 14 of those years, the family’s carwash and oil change business on Silver Springs Boulevard was a common stop for locals. Centra Pharmacy, which they have owned and operated for the last eight years, delivers medications to 35 assisted living facilities from Crystal River to Tampa, including Hampton Manor, ARC of Marion County, and Summerfield Suites.

The Costas’ businesses have always been community-oriented, and their latest venture, Cameo Pharmacy, is no different.

“We’re like CVS but family-owned,” explains John Jr. “We offer all the common products you normally stop by the big-chain drugstore for—Band-Aids, cough medicine, throat lozenges—as well as prescriptions. We’re a convenient, small-town pharmacy that offers little to no wait and above-and-beyond service.”

The pharmacy, centrally located on Pine Avenue near the intersection with SR 200, even offers drive-up service. Customers can pull up to the intercom, speak directly to the pharmacist, park, and have their prescriptions or other products delivered directly to their car window. For parents who don’t want to or cannot bring their sick kids into a busy chain drugstore, this perk can be invaluable. Home delivery is also offered to local residences.

Another helpful option for parents is the pharmacy’s flavoring system. To select medications, including Tylenol, Motrin, Claritin, Tamiflu, Zantac, and Amoxicillin, Cameo Pharmacy can add bubble gum, apple, banana, cherry, raspberry, or grape flavor. For ailing four-legged family members, chicken pot pie, Angus beef, and tuna flavorings are available.

Furthermore, Cameo Pharmacy accepts all major health insurance plans, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield and United Healthcare.

“Unlike other places in town, we take insurances and offer cash discounts,” John adds. The pharmacy is currently running a “Buy Three Prescriptions, Get One Generic Free” promotion.

Most importantly, Cameo Pharmacy is imbued with the same warm and welcoming atmosphere that has long been the signature of a Costa business.

“Here,” Johanna stresses, “you’ll find friendly people who are happy to serve you.”

Stop by Cameo Pharmacy today and experience the difference that shopping at a family-owned pharmacy can make.
