Business Briefs – July 2018

Welcome Home

Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club and Royal Shell Real Estate have announced Couture Lifestyle Homes as the newest preferred builder for the gated, master-planned community of 10 uniquely elegant neighborhoods. As a preferred homebuilder based on 30+ years of discerning residences in Southeast Florida, Couture Lifestyle Homes will build several luxury custom homes for new members and their guests. Each home will focus on superior materials and high-quality designs tailored to each owner’s needs, tastes and lifestyles, as well as creating places that are environmentally friendly and prompt a positive experience where budgets and schedules are met.

“As Royal Shell and Golden Ocala strive to increase custom home designs and building by 250 percent in 2018, Couture is here to bring unmatched value and undeniable expertise to the homes of people’s dreams,” said Lee Kerr, director of operations of Royal Shell Real Estate at Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club.

Gracie To The Rescue

The Petco Foundation has selected Ocala Fire Rescue to receive a State Farm Arson Dog Support grant in the amount of $2,000. In August 2014, Ocala Fire Rescue received an arson investigation dog—K9 Gracie—through the State Farm Insurance Company’s Arson Dog Program. Recently, the Petco Foundation offered recipients of said program the opportunity to apply for a grant to help supplement the cost of care and certification for the accelerant detecting canine. Learning of the opportunity, Captain Roseanne Moreland, K9 Gracie’s handler, applied for the grant. As a result, OFR has been awarded $2,000 to help defray the costs associated with the care and annual re-certification of K9 Gracie.

Excellence In Education

College of Central Florida Criminal Justice Associate Professor Thomas Ziesemer has received the inaugural Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty Award from the American Association of Community Colleges. The award is named in honor of former AACC president and CEO Dale P. Parnell and was established to recognize individuals making a difference in the classroom.

“I believe the support of the public in community colleges remains strong due in no small measure to the efforts of educators and administrators who fiercely believe in the mission of their institutions and who communicate that mission in every classroom,” Ziesemer said.
