Change Is Good

After serving Ocala as a partner with Collier & Hagin, P.A., Dennis Hagin is ready for a change. Effective January 1, 2008  Dennis is selling his interest in the firm to Kathi Jernigan, CPA; Sheryll Goedert, CPA; and Karl Goedert, CPA.  The new firm, Collier, Jernigan & Goedert, P.A., will have over 30 years of combined national accounting firm experience.

“While the name change reflects the new leadership of the firm, we will continue to provide the full array of professional accounting and tax services our clients currently enjoy,” says Daryl Collier, CPA, founder and partner of the new Collier, Jernigan & Goedert, P.A.  “I am thrilled to have Kathi, Sheryll, and Karl join me in this new endeavor. They each bring a unique set of skills and expand the capabilities of the firm.”

“We will continue to work directly with business owners to provide in-depth financial analysis to improve efficiency and track the profitability of their business,” explains Kathi Jernigan.  “Our primary goal is to help clients better understand their financial statements, enhance the profitability of their business and minimize their tax burden.”

Financial statements which are properly designed and timely prepared are essential in monitoring the operation of a business.  To this end, the firm has expanded its traditional accounting services to meet the demands of the technology boom.

They achieve this through assisting clients with the selection, implementation, and utilization of computer software best suited for their business. They have special expertise in  QuickBooks® software, which meets the accounting needs of most small businesses.  The firm includes ten QuickBooks Pro Advisors™ and provides in-house QuickBooks® classes to train businesses on fundamental accounting procedures. Computer consulting and QuickBooks® training at a client’s business is also available. This helps to solidify the client’s understanding of the program and increases the usefulness of the accounting system.

In addition to business and computer consulting, ever-changing tax laws and accounting and auditing standards make it imperative to have experience on your side.  To meet these demands, the firm has expanded in both the tax and audit areas.  With 9 years tax experience, Sheryll Goedert, CPA, will lead the tax department.  Sheryll’s husband, Karl Goedert, CPA, has over 9 years auditing experience and will head the auditing department.

“Our staff is dedicated to continuing education, state-of-the-art computerized accounting methods, and assisting our clients with a variety of tax planning and financial services,” says Sheryll.  “I am involved in all aspects of the tax practice and utilize my extensive teaching and education background to research complex tax issues and educate our clients about the impact of tax rules and regulations.”

“We strive to ensure our audit services benefit clients by providing realistic suggestions on how to improve the efficiency of their operations,” says Karl.  “In addition to my audit experience, my sixteen years managing a medical practice gives me a clear perspective on how difficult it can be to affect real change in an organization.  This unique background allows me to assist our clients, particularly physicians, in managing all aspects of their businesses.”

Collier, Jernigan & Goedert, P.A. will continue its close relationship with Technology Concepts of Central Florida, a full-service computer company.  Technology Concepts is operated by Rick Mills, who specializes in designing and implementing technology solutions for growing businesses.

Getting the most out of QuickBooks®

Collier, Jernigan & Goedert, P.A. senior staff members, Jayme Zublick, CPA, and Deedra Swift are Advanced Certified QuickBooks Pro Advisors™ who have significant experience in QuickBooks® teaching and consulting. In 2006, they were contracted by QuickBooks® developer, Intuit, to educate contractors about how to best utilize QuickBooks® in their businesses, at the International Builder’s Show, held in Orlando.  QuickBooks® Enterprise Account Manager Steve Hall commended them for their work, stating, “Their professionalism and first-hand experience were invaluable.  We really appreciate their knowledge, passion and desire to help solve client’s problems.”
