Man’s Best Friend – Demetrick LeCorn and Nala

We love our furry family members, and we bet you do, too. In honor of our annual men’s issue, we invited a few local guys to introduce us to their favorite four-legged friends.

What is your name, and what is your dog’s name?

My name is Dr. Demetrick Wayne LeCorn and my bestie’s name is Nala. She’s a tea cup Pomeranian.

Please tell us the story of how you and your dog met, or how he/she became part of your family.

Nala was gifted to me by a friend. He was working almost 70 hours a week and Nala had to spend most her time at home alone. Since I worked nearby, he would frequently ask if I could go by his place and take Nala on a short walk. I never considered myself to be much of an animal person but Nala quickly grew on me and my friend asked if I would keep her to give her a better home.

Do you and your dog have a favorite activity you enjoy doing together? Please explain.

Nala loves to go for rides in the car and her favorite place to be other than at home is at grandma’s house because there she gets spoiled and plenty of snacks. We especially enjoy playing fetch!

Please share a brief story or example of why your dog is truly “Man’s Best Friend.”

Nala is always so excited to see me when I come home. She runs around and around in circles showing her excitement. When I pick her up she showers me with kisses. If I’m feeling sick or sad she won’t leave my side making sure that I’m ok. I once thought pets depended solely on their owners but I have discovered that I depend on Nala just as much as she does me! She is the perfect best friend!!
