Doing The Right Thing

Brett Converse, General Manager

A Vanguard High School graduate, Brett Converse is quick to say that Palm Chevrolet is where he wants to be.

“Palm has been doing business for more than 20 years here in Ocala,” he says. “You don’t last that long without doing a lot of things right.”

As a manager, Brett’s philosophy and belief system is simple: provide a rewarding experience for both customers and employees.

“You do that by placing others first in your actions, not just your words,” Brett says. “You inspire customers and associates by doing the right thing each and every time, and by paying attention to the thousands of small details.”

Unlike many executives, Brett believes in being very involved with both his staff and the public.

“I have an absolute passion for this business,” he says. “In order to deliver the experience that every customer and employee is entitled to receive, you have to know what they expect and then exceed their expectations. How can I know what these expectations are unless I am constantly maintaining contact with those who make it possible for us to be successful?”

That’s why Brett wants to meet and speak with customers each and every day. From a personal perspective, he notes that getting to know the customers is the most enjoyable part of his day.

A dedicated professional, Brett has been involved in the car business since moving to Ocala with his family in 1979.

“My first summer in Ocala I worked for McKee Motors on South Pine in the detail department,” Brett says. “I have worked up and down the east coast and have sold and serviced for 19 franchised automobile manufacturers.”

In the beginning of his career, Brett spent a great deal of time in the service and parts departments. The last 17 years have been spent in managing the variable operations, from sales to finance.

“This is my fourth dealership that I have been given to run, my second round with Chevrolet,” Brett says. “It has been an awesome journey thus far and I couldn’t be more excited to be back in Ocala where it all began.

“It’s great to be back in a community where folks are real and sincere,” he continues. “A place where you can say good morning to someone and actually get a response in return. I love the weather, the scenery, and the fact that Ocala is the ‘All American City,’ a place I, for one, am very proud of.”
