Artist Reception for Uncovering Nature’s Great Mystery of Art, Mathematics and Science.
January’s exhibit is one you will not want to miss, along with several educational talks and conversations with Scott Olsen, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus, Humanities Department, College of Central Florida.
This January, 2019 month-long exhibition at MCA will be an eclectic educational compilation of Professor Olsen’s discoveries and insights into the role of sacred geometry and its interface with canons of human proportion, genetics, physics, plant and animal growth, consciousness research, and the subtle energies and beauty captured by shamanic visionary artists in paintings from the rainforest in Peru. The objects displayed will include geometric constructions and poster displays presented by Professor Olsen during talks at conferences worldwide on consciousness, physics and symmetry in Vienna, Austria, Florence, Italy, Alexandria, Egypt. Stornoway, Scotland, London, England, Reykjavik, Iceland, Odessa, Ukraine and Shanghai, China. This exhibition is a culmination of Professor Olsen’s intense research, writing and travel during his 33 + years of teaching at CF. Now an international best seller in 9 languages, his book, The Golden Section, Nature’s Greatest Secret was awarded 1st Place for design at 2007 New York Book Show by Bookbinder’s Guild of New York. Presentations during the exhibit will include a lecture on how the golden ratio or divine proportion cuts across all disciplines, highlighting his most recent paper published in the Italian aesthetics journal, Lebenswelt, titled Golden Ratio Beauty as Scientific Function; a sound healing performance by Rene Jenkins and Matthew Pallamary at the January 4th opening; and a live painting demonstration by Alfredo Zagaceta and Mita Lozano, who along with several other Peruvian visionary artists will have their paintings on display.
