Man’s Best Friend – Greg Harrell and Moonshine

We love our furry family members, and we bet you do, too. In honor of our annual men’s issue, we invited a few local guys to introduce us to their favorite four-legged friends.

Greg Harrell and Moonshine

Please tell us the story of how you and your dog met, or how he/she became part of your family.

I always liked the way German short-haired pointers looked, particularly their spots; but once I got to hunt quail behind them and watch them work, I knew I had to have one.

Do you and your dog have a favorite activity you enjoy doing together? Please explain.

Yes, walking. Thomas Jefferson once wrote that “walking is the best possible exercise,” to which I would add that walking with your dog is even better.

Please share a brief story or example of why your dog is truly “Man’s Best Friend.”

Thanks to some training by my friend Scot Yocum, Moonshine stands on point and waits for my cue better than any dog I’ve ever had. She’s my “brown-eyed girl.”
