IES high tea fundraiser nets more than $48,000

The annual Interfaith Emergency Services fundraiser on May 4  at the UF/IFAS extension auditorium, featured tables arrayed with stunning displays. Jennifer Arvanitis won the Golden Teapot award for raising more than $6,000, the highest amount of any of the hostesses.

“Honorable Mention goes to the ladies of Our Savior Lutheran Church.  They raised over $7,000 but they had two tables,” noted IES CEO Karla Greenway.

The Most Elegant Traditional table award went to Anne Wagoner and Becky Drake, with the Most Creative honor going to Michelle Smith.

“The Rookie (Best First Year Hostess) Award went to Jody Machaud and Claudette Stephens, for their Tea by the Sea table,” Greenway noted.

The People’s Choice Award went to Maria Roman.

“Overall, we raised $48,000 for our homeless shelter,” Greenway reported after the event.

IES programs, which include a food pantry, help more than 30,000 people each year.
