We love our furry family members, and we bet you do, too. In honor of our annual men’s issue, we invited a few local guys to introduce us to their favorite four-legged friends.
Jeff Gold and Puzzle
Please tell us the story of how you and your dog met, or how he/she became part of your family.
Puzzle was dropped off at the Humane Society with an embedded choker and in terrible shape. They performed surgery to remove the chain and nursed her back to health. My retired Sheriff’s Office K-9, Taz passed away in 2014 at the age of 13 and I swore I would not get another one due to the sadness it brought. Brenda Hall from the Humane Society called and asked me to come look at Puzzle. She is still a puppy at around 16 months old and very hyper! Once I met her, we bonded. Even though she needs a lot of training and work, she became part of our family. I hope that the love she gets from us makes her forget the first year of her life!
Do you and your dog have a favorite activity you enjoy doing together? Please explain.
She loves me to throw a ball for her. We buy bags of tennis balls and throw them to her until she finally lays down. She loves walks and riding in my dad’s old pickup truck.
Please share a brief story or example of why your dog is truly “Man’s Best Friend.”
Unconditional love! Being an elected official, you can never make everyone happy, but when I come home, Puzzle is always happy to see me and ready to play. It makes the rough days better.
