Living & Giving

Greg and Carla GREG & CARLA ARE COMMITED TO SUPPORTING a cause which is near and dear to their hearts — the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association. A donation from each real estate transaction is given to MTRA. You can learn more about MTRA by visiting mtraocala.org.

Working around the clock isn’t considered a chore for this couple who readily admit they welcome every minute of their chosen profession. Which is a good thing for Carla and Greg Lord who, for over a decade, have established a reputation of superior and quality service in the local real estate market.

“We are hands-on in our business from morning until night,” says Greg echoed by Carla who adds, “We genuinely love what we do.”

This passion is visibly reflected not only in Homes to Ranches continued success, but also in the many charities they support. Driven by their mutual love of horses, the Lords have dedicated their time and resources to endeavors that support the equine industry. Near and dear to the Lords’ heart is the Marion Therapeutic Riding Association. Accordingly, much of the Lords’ financial support is directed to this charity. They make a donation  to MTRA from each real estate transaction.

“We strongly believe in the value of this association and are happy to give back in any way,” says Carla.

This sense of community is also seen in other ways, too. The Lords have been longtime supporters of the American Cancer Society, Florida Horse Park, HITS horse shows, and the Symphony of Horses.

“We try to give to as many charities as possible,” adds Greg.

And in his spare time, Greg currently serves as the President of the Marion County Board of Realtors — a first for having an equine realtor serve as this influential organization’s leader.

“The horse farms in this county represent a significant portion of the real estate market in terms of dollars and I want to help strengthen the relationship between the equine community and the rest of the county,” notes Greg who says the key to such a successful partnership is getting people involved.

Carla and Greg’s equine roots are extensive. Greg is a lifelong horseman who has trained and sold many thoroughbred horses.

“Owning and operating a business all of my adult life has laid the stepping stones for my real estate career,” adds Greg, noting this is a distinct advantage when it comes to selling horse farms.

“I know the industry well because I live it,” he says.

Carla agrees, adding that their inside knowledge of the “horse world” has been beneficial to the expertise they provide to their clients.

“There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than showing a farm to a client because I live and breathe this life,” says Carla who comes from an established Central Florida real estate family.

“Everyone in my family is a realtor so I really didn’t have a choice,” she laughs.

And the community is the fortunate recipient of the Lords’ choice to live and work here. Led by a philosophy of giving, every Homes to Ranches employee is actively involved in community events.

“Our team is dedicated to making our collective home a better place to live,” says Carla, “And I like to think that we become someone’s realtor for life as a result.”

Building relationships is a key factors to the Lords who work hard to create a quality real estate experience for their clients.

“Those whom we work with really become our friends,” Greg adds.

Carla even provides a personalized “welcome package” for every client, making them feel right at home from the very beginning.

“We feel lucky to live here,” says Greg. “You measure your wealth by the amount of friendships you’ve acquired.”
