Man’s Best Friend – Martin Perez and Minnie

We love our furry family members, and we bet you do, too. In honor of our annual men’s issue, we invited a few local guys to introduce us to their favorite four-legged friends.

Martin Perez and MinnieMartin & Minnie

Please tell us the story of how you and your dog met, or how he/she became part of your family.

We adopted Minnie when she was 2 months old. A week later we discovered that she had the Parvo virus. Minnie was sick for the entire first month. Going into the second month, we made sure she would pull through her illness by taking her to the veterinarian every two weeks. She is 4 years old now and is the healthiest dog I know and we’re so happy she’s part of our family.

Do you and your dog have a favorite activity you enjoy doing together?

One of Minnie’s favorite activities is tug-of-war. She’ll bring something to your feet and waits until you grab the other end to begin tugging. Very often you’ll stop before she does. Minnie gets very excited and it’s a great way to tire her out.

Please share a brief story or example of why your dog is truly “Man’s Best Friend.”

I believe my dog is truly “Man’s Best Friend” because most dogs serve a purpose in improving the mental health of their owners. Many find comfort in the moments they share with their furry pets that they don’t find in other relationships. Minnie has been a rock for everyone in our family.
