Ocala Cancer Center Opens With Message of Hope For The Community

Florida Cancer Center Ribbon CuttingThe bright, sunny morning was the perfect backdrop for the message of hope Florida Cancer Specialists (FCS) offered our community with the opening of their new, state-of-the-art Ocala Cancer Center.

Dozens of patients, community members and local officials gathered for the official ribbon cutting of the new 21,000 square-foot facility located at 4945 SW 49th Place, off State Road 200 just west of I-75.

“It’s a true honor and with a spirit of humility and gratitude that I was able to attend, knowing so many more lives will continue to be saved,” said Marion County Commissioner Michelle Stone, who was a patient of Florida Cancer Specialists’ Dr. Craig Reynolds nearly 18 years ago. “Every need and service will be available for those fighting cancer under this one roof,” she explained.

Committed to providing world class medicine with hometown care, FCS has helped countless patients find hope after a cancer diagnosis. Now the largest independent medical oncology/hematology practice in the United States, FCS has been providing the most advanced treatments and clinical trials to patients Central Florida since 1984. At this new facility, patients can receive medical oncology, radiation oncology, access to clinical trials and next-generation PET/CT imaging technology, as well as a variety of advanced services, all under one roof. FCS knows that patients can focus more energy on healing when they can be treated close to home, surrounded by family and friends.

PhooThe bright, open space with lots of windows and natural light was thoughtfully designed based on research that shows using light, natural elements, colors and art helps to reduce stress in healthcare facilities. And less stress means patients are more likely to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Throughout the facility, areas including the 47-chair chemotherapy treatment center and 17 examination rooms offer soothing views of meadows and palm trees. The new center offers a wide range of treatments and services including radiation oncology and medical oncology so patients can receive world-class cancer care right here in Ocala.
