Parting Shot: The Comeback Kid

“Wading birds are my favorite photography subjects because they are so quintessentially Florida. The great egret is a majestic member of the heron family that has made a spectacular comeback after nearly being hunted to extinction for its beautiful plumage, which was used in the late-1800s to adorn women’s hats. When I see a scene like this one, I’m thankful for those who had the foresight to protect our wildlife for future generations.”
