Serving Lake, Marion & Sumter Counties

Genuine and down-to-earth, attorney A.J. Rohe enjoys helping people. It was a personal experience with the law when he was young that encouraged him to pursue a career in the legal field.

“The law is more complicated than most people realize,” A.J. says. “I know. I was one of those people!”

Fortunately for residents of Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties, his practice is available to a variety of clients, including those in need of services in civil litigation, real estate, family law, estate planning, probate, guardianships, taxation issues, personal injury, medical malpractice, criminal law, transactional work, and DUI. There are presently four attorneys on the team, which includes A.J., Thomas Holden, Ashley S. Hunt, and Kristopher A. Vanderlaan. Personal injury and medical malpractice cases are handled in conjunction with attorneys from other firms. A fifth attorney will soon be joining the firm.

What started as one person working nearly exclusively in family law has grown into a practice that is 14 strong. The four attorneys and 10 support staff members see to it that every client receives quality, personalized attention and care.

“We keep very current on changes in the law in order to offer our clients the best solutions,” A.J. says. “We explain the procedures thoroughly and make sure our clients understand the process every step of the way.”

In a further effort to stay on the cutting edge of the law, the professionals at Rohe Law dedicate time every morning to staff training and improvement.

Thomas Holden has been practicing for 26 years. His practice was originally in Fouth Florida, but he has been in Lake County for five years. Prior to working at this firm, he was the supervising attorney at the Department of Children and Families.

Ashley Hunt is a graduate of Leesburg High School. He received a bachelors degree in finance from the University of Cincinnati and his juris doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University. After graduating law school, he obtained an L.L.M. in taxation from the University of Florida. Mr. Hunt’s practice areas include civil litigation, estate planning, probate administration, trust administration, business planning, tax planning, and real estate.

Kristopher Vanderlaan graduated from the University of Florida College of Law and worked for the State’s Attorney’s Office in Ocala prior to going into private practice. He lives in Ocala and has trial experience in criminal, general civil litigation, estate litigation, as well as family law.

A.J. Rohe attended Umatilla High School and has lived in Lake County his entire adult life with exception of the time he spent attending the University of Florida and its College of Law. He has been practicing law for more than 12 years. For A.J., the most rewarding aspect of his career is helping someone in need.

The firm’s main office is located in downtown Tavares, and their second location in Oxford, just half a mile from The Villages, recently opened.

“The addition of our second office allows us to expand our services into Marion and Sumter counties,” A.J. says. “We’re excited to assist even more clients with their legal needs.”

“When someone walks through our door in what they believe to be a desperate situation and we’re able to get them pointed in the right direction, that’s what practicing law is all about,” he says. “We provide each client with a clear, logical plan and give them our unembellished opinions and straight-forward options regarding their case. I think our clients appreciate our honesty.”
