Missing Mama’s Cookin’? Look no further than Artman Country Smokehouse in Summerfield.
If you’re in the market for smoked meat with that perfectly pink border and homemade sides prepared fresh daily, it sounds like you’re due for a trip to Artman Country Smokehouse. This home-cooking staple is family owned and operated, and they pay special attention to the cooking process of their delicious brisket, pork, chicken and more.
“We prep and slow cook all night so that the meat is tender and smoked to perfection,” says Clark Artman, who with his wife, Gayla, owns the restaurant.
Guests can start their meal with an Artman signature appetizer: Mama’s Smoked Moinks. They’re meatballs crafted from a beef and sausage blend, stuffed with pepper jack cheese, wrapped in bacon and topped with barbecue sauce. Freshly smoked jalapeño poppers won’t disappoint either, filled with cream cheese, cheddar and sour cream and crowned with a slice of kielbasa. Oh, and don’t forget the fried green tomatoes!
For the main event, Artman offers their meats with two sides as a plate or on a bun with one side as a sandwich. Choose from sliced angus brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, golden fried cod or ribs. If you’re bringing the whole family, try Papa’s Special—a full spread of brisket, pulled pork, ribs, Moinks and three sides for just $21. To feed a larger family, try Papa’s Feast.
Although the smoked meat is the star, don’t miss out on that homemade side dish selection. Barbecue tastes best with baked beans, melty mac ‘n’ cheese or
corn casserole.
Artman Country Smokehouse is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. They also offer carry out meals if you need delicious dinner to take home to the family, and smoked meat by the pound for gatherings. Catering orders are available for large parties but need advanced notice. No matter when you stop in, rest assured you won’t leave disappointed—or hungry.
