Walk of Fame plaque for famed tenor James Melton

James Melton was a star on radio and television, in concert and at the Metropolitan Opera, and also was recognized for his collections of vintage automobiles. He lived in Citra and later in Ocala, where he is buried. During his career, Melton graced stages around the world and traveled extensively in the United States.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, Melton was memorialized with a plaque on the Walk of Fame in front of the historic Marion Theatre in downtown Ocala.

People who helped ensure that Melton received the plaque included Carswell Ponder, David Stafford, Laurie Zink, Buddy Martin Gerald Ergle, Brad Rogers, Jessi Miller, Jessica Fieldhouse, Jeff Robertson, Tom James and John Dozier. Rick Schmidt, of the National Parts Depot, sponsored the plaque and the event sponsor was Angie Lewis.
