Building Green

2007 Aurora Award, Best Energy Efficient Home, Rusaw Homes George Rusaw holding the FHBA Builder Of The Year Award he received for Rusaw Homes.

This dedication to energy conservation has resulted in Rusaw Homes being honored as Progress Energy’s “Best Energy-Efficient Home” on five occasions beginning in 1993. The latest award was presented at the 2007 Southeast Builder’s Conference at the Aurora Awards banquet in Orlando for this year’s “Most Energy-Efficient” new home built in all of Progress Energy’s service area.

In fact, Rusaw Homes is the only designated “Energy Star’’ award winning builder in all of Citrus County.

Rusaw Homes is committed to energy conservation,” says Cyndi McRee, Sr. Energy Efficiency Specialist with Progress Energy Florida, which is why they are so dedicated to building energy-efficient homes for their buyers.

And because Rusaw Homes participates in Progress Energy’s Home Advantage program at the Energy Saver Premium/Energy Star level, which is the highest level of participation, this means that their home buyers can feel satisfied knowing they are getting a well-constructed house specially designed to save energy and money.

Some of the energy-saving features that buyers can expect from a Rusaw Home include high-efficient heating and cooling systems, advanced insulation, high-performance windows, and energy-efficient appliances, just to name a few,” says McRee. “But the real benefits to the buyer will be improved comfort, enhanced air quality, and the potential for higher resale due to the higher building standards. And, because of the lower monthly energy costs, buyers can get more home for their money.”

The professionals at Rusaw Homes have done the research—they know how important it is to distinguish themselves from other builders by giving home buyers the energy-saving and cost-saving home they are looking for,” McRee says.  “This was proven by the Energy Efficiency Aurora Award that was recently presented to Rusaw by Progress Energy, by scoring the highest in the competition, in the Energy Efficient Home category at the Southeast Building Conference.”

Rusaw Homes is celebrating 51 years of construction excellence that began in Pasco County with George’s father and his uncle, Bill Rusaw. George took the reins of the family business and moved it to Citrus County in 1976. A testament to the quality of work provided, Rusaw Homes has completed more than 5,000 homes on the west coast of Central Florida. By building energy-saving homes, Rusaw realizes that this is “building green’’ in the customer’s pocket. With the high cost of fuel, it just makes sense to build and buy energy-saving homes for now and the future.

Of course Rusaw doesn’t build homes just to win awards. The homes built by Rusaw do win awards, however—awards that equate to value and savings for their owners.

Concentrating on building in Citrus County, Rusaw homes has also built hundreds of homes in west Marion County, many in the Villages of Rainbow Springs.
