A tall furry creature, a man wielding a light saber, a couple of droids and many other interesting characters were out in force on May 4 for the May the 4th Be With You “Star Wars” costume contest.
The event, which took place at St. Marks United Methodist Church at 1839 NE 8th Road, Ocala, was a fundraiser for the nonprofit Ora Clubhouse, which helps people in their recovery toward mental wellness. It included themed activities, dinner and prizes in teen/child and adult categories.
According to Ora Clubhouse Executive Director Leda Perez, the winners were:
- Adult Category: Michael Potenza, as the Mandalorian; and Damon Matthew as Mace Windu
- Adolescent Category: Brooks Hetherington as a Tusken Raider and Rylin Sleeth as Rey Skywalker
